Devotion to the Divine Child Jesus “Divino Niño” has gained great popularity thanks to EWTN’s Mother Angelica’s own miraculous experience with the Divine Child Jesus. The flickering soft light of our LED Flameless devotional candle lightens a darkened room with a beautiful image of the Child Jesus offering His Sacred Heart with burning love.

The devotion to the Divine Child (Divino Niño) originated with a vision experienced by a Salesian priest in 1914 while building a church for the poor in an impoverished area of Bogotá, Colombia. In the vision, Father Rizzo saw the child Jesus standing and holding out his arms, like wanting to be picked up, saying, “Take me with you, I want to accompany you.” After finishing building the church the priest installed a beautiful statue of the Divine Child and people began to flock to the church because of the many miracles experienced with the devotion to the Divine Child. In 1995, while travelling through South America, Mother Angelica the foundress of the Eternal Word Television Network, was introduced to the shrine of the Divine Child in Bogotá, where she was invited to attend mass. While at the shrine, Mother Angelica stood praying at the side of the statue of the Divine Child Jesus, when the image miraculously turned towards her and spoke with the voice of a young boy: "Build Me a Temple and I will help those who help you." Thus began what would result in the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament, consecrated in 1999 in Hanceville, Alabama, a beautiful Temple dedicated to the Divine Child Jesus, where a statute of the Divine Child Jesus  is portrayed holding a burning heart, rather than with the traditional outstretched arms. Mother Angelica attributed her network and television successes to this pious religious devotion.
